HISTORY

Búzios has begun as a small village and in that time it was indwelt by natives, colonizers and French pirates. There was also a point of slavering traffic.

During the 50’s, Armação’s beach was the favorite place for many Brazilian and French bourgeoisie families to build their houses, attracted by the heavenly geographic space, the plenteous subsea hunting and the proximity to Rio de Janeiro.

The village began its transformation in 1964, with Brigitte Bardot and her Brazilian boyfriend spending their vacations there. The presence of the most famous French movie star in Búzios at the time was heavily reported by the national and international media, definitely promoting which would be considered one of the most charming Brazilian balnearies of the world.

Nowadays the city is visited by tourists from around the world and called by many of them as
"Brazilian Saint-Tropez".
